Acetic acid

Acetic acid is used in concentrated form as a raw material for various chemical plastics, and also in the production of ester type solvents, in particular butyl and ethyl acetate. Acetic acid is also a raw material in the manufacture of peracetic acid which is used as a bleaching agent in the pulp industry.

In diluted form it is used in the home for example in the preserving of herring and pickles and is usually called vinegar. Biobased diluted acetic acid has become commonly used as a herbicide.
